Singtel @ $3.79

Buy @ $3.79

Add to my ealier ones. Quite a good intraday swing for the past few days. If I were not too greedy (need 3 bids), should be able to do a shot term trade. Worst case, sit tight for the 1H results (13-Nov las year ; Div = 6.8ct)….. 😀

Singtel @ $3.78

Buy @ $3.78

With a sea of red today, I used % decline to help me screen for stocks to buy. The >-3% ones in my watch list are Genting, King Wan, Sheng Siong, Vard,… mostly sub-$1 ones where a single bid equates to a huge % swing. Decided to skip these as I'm suddenly more risk averse. For the >-2% ones, I decided to focus on the Yield Rotation list for Sep Q. Finally, decided on Singtel as it also allows me to average down my recent $3.90 ones… 😀

An  interesting observation is US DJIA was +ve last night and the Tech & Internet-heavy NASDAQ was >-1% (Just read Lim & Tan report that the sell-down is mainly due to Fund Mgrs raising cash to switch to Alibaba IPO….). Around Asia, Shanghai was more negative than STI and HK behind STI, with the rest, mostly aound half as badly hit. A few, like Korea & Phillipines were even positive. As for Futures, Europe & US was red, but mostly by less than -0.5%.

So, FED 2-days meeting causing STI to bleed ahead of other regions??

Singtel @ $3.90

Buy @ $3.90

Add back to my portfolio. Buying early (Q2 results last year on 13-Nov ; Div 10ct) for Yield Rotation Strategy and will likely trade on opportunity. EPS for Q1 was weaker y-o-y, so, have to be prepared that Q2 may suffer similar weakness.

Singtel @ $3.56

Sell @ $3.56

Decided to take profit on my tiny, single holding. Reading about Temasek doing massive multi-billion $ acquisitions of Olam & Watson plus a tinier (<$1Bil) amount for a China food co., makes me nervous that they'll have to raise funds by selling some of their SGX listed stocks at a discount via placements. Of course they could also raise funds thro' Bonds Issue plus they have indicated they'd like to sell their stake in Shin Corp (Thai TELCO)… to Singtel…

Will vest again on any dips.. 😀

Singtel @ $3.52

Buy @ $3.52

Add back to my holdings as part of David's Yield Rotation Strategy.  😀

FY14 (Mar) results ought to be aro' mid-May (14-May last year) and Div was 10ct. With 9M EPS better than last year, the probability of maintaining the 2H Div is high, unless they cut the Payout Ratio (~76% last year).

Using last years data,

  • PE = 15.99 / 15.49 (latest 4Qs)
  • Yield = 4.773%

Comparison with other 2 TELCOs,

  • Starhub @ $4.04
    • PE = 18.79 ; Yield = 4.95%
  • M1 @ $3.39
    • PE = 19.48 ; Yield = 6.195% / 4.1% (if exclude Special Div)

Current share price weakness could be due to a combination of Crimea fears + Overbid for World Cup broadcast rights.

SingTel @ $3.55

Sell @ $3.55

Finally managed to clear this short term trade of mine for a tiny profit. No more left, shift focus to SATS for now… 😀

SingTel @ $3.52

Buy @ $3.52

Add back to my portfolio as price is weak today. Range $3.50 to $3.53, Close = $3.51. Looks like I was too eager to buy back! 😀

SingTel @ $3.57

Sell @ $3.57

Decided to contra off (no more left) for the following reasons,

  • Due for payment today
  • Didn't manage to buy more ie. a more meaningful Qty
  • May need free cash to defend other stocks, esp. the new additions to portfolio
  • FY end is Mar-14 (where Div will be announced), still a few more months to go

But, will likely buy back on dips due to itchy fingers syndrome… 😀

SingTel @ $3.53

Buy @ $3.53

Add back to my portfolio. A better timing to look at it would have been closer to their FY end in Mar. However, it has dropped below my previous buy price and perhaps worth a short term bet. Seller CP = Goldman Sachs. Looking at the huge volume, perhaps major rebalancing… Hopefully, not a prelude to Temasek placing out their SingTel shares at a discount…

PE= 16 ; Yield = 4.75%, altho' not fantastic, is more attractive to me as compared to the other 2 TELCOs (M1 : PE = 28.95 ; Yield = 4.51% @ $$3.24 ; StarHub : PE = 19.29 ; Yield = 4.76% @ $4.20).

SingTel @ $3.75

Sell @ $3.75

Decided to take profit, no more left. Prices should continue to be supported by the 10ct cd & Optus Satellite sale. Their loss in Myanmar bid is being seen positively by analysts as that means they won't be committing lots of $$ to build the infrastructure there. 😀
