SPH @ $3.96

Sell @ $3.96

Reduce further, left 1 last batch of profitable ones. As 4-May is the last day of cd and tomorrow is a Public Holiday (Labour Day), we're left with 3 full working days to play with. It looks a lot harder to hit $4 now and the big drop by STEng (22ct vs Div = 12.5ct) since it xd, spooked me. Better safe than sorry! Buyer CP = CSFB.

5:05PM

Sell @ $3.97. Did my Jump-Q routine. My last batch of profitable ones. If it hit $4 before it xd, I'll consider to sell my loss-making ones to bet on xd being >7ct Div. Buyer CP = MSCO.

SPH @ $3.96

Sell @ $3.96

Decided to contra off. Have also set my target sell price for the rest to start from $3.97 onwards but will likely lower it as the xd date (7-May ie. last day of cd is 4-May) approaches. Buyer CP = MSCO. 😀

SPH @ $3.91

Buy @ $3.91

No, it didn't xd today, even though -7ct (same as Div). Now, a bit regretting I got greedy and didn't sell @ $3.97-8! Try my luck as xd is ~2weeks away. Seller CP = MSCO. 😀

SPH @ $3.64

Buy @ $3.64. Add to my collection. Jumped Q by putting in a buy @ 5pm for $3.65. Seller CP – CitiGroup 😀

SPH @ $3.648

Buy @ $3.65 and $3.64. Finally, after so many years of trying, I managed to sell high (before xd) and buy low (after xd). Sold one week before xd  @ $3.91 (but hit high of $3.94) and with dividend of 17ct, theorectical xd is $3.74 ($3.77 for hi). So, some cheap thrills here as the difference is only 9ct for me and it may drop even further as market is weak, STI -28 @ 2700 with SPH -5ct. Seller CP – UBS. 😀

For my own future reference on how this method may work again,

  1. Focus on a stock you don't mind holding long term
  2. Market have to be weak and volatile
  3. Fundamentally strong companies eg. SPH
  4. High dividend payout, especially those stocks who pays dividend only once a year or for those who pay twice, then usually during the higher year end payout

The trick is to sell before it goes xd as the share price will hold well, even though market may be very weak. Once it goes xd, the chances of the share price dropping more than the dividend payout is very high, especially over a few days of continued weakness.

SPH @ $3.91

Sell @ $3.91. Q'd @ $3.90 during 5pm matching to jump Q. xd 0n 8-Dec, decide to sell some as the price is quite good today +6ct. Buyer CP – Nomura. 😀

SPH @ $3.92

Sell @ $3.92. Decided to take profit, with STI @ 3142 (-10) and having recovered quite a bit from 1-2 weeks back. FY end is end-Aug, still some time away, I hope enough time for me to buy back on dips. Buyer CP '83' – CitiGroup.  ðŸ˜€
