SATS @ $3.18

Sell @ $3.18

Decided to sell off my tiny stake. It was meant to be short term anyway as current Quarter reporting is not their Dividend Payout quarter.

Last night, I mistakenly thought that they'd be announcing their Q3 results. While checking thro' SGX Annc, I decided to take another look at their previous Q2 results and other recent Presentation materials. A couple of points,

  1. Singapore Cruise Centre – I thought they had already acquired the above and the coming Q3 may have a positive contribution from this. But, this is not the case as it's awaiting Regulatory Approval. Once approved, they'll have to hold an EGM for shareholders' approval.
    • This acquisition will be accretive ie. Add to EPS
    • Will deplete their Cash
    • Probability of Special Div for 2H is lower due to this
  2. Q2 Financials – Earnings was lower on a y-o-y basis and attributed to rising costs.
    • Looks like hi chance Q3 will have same impact
    • SIAEC faced the same issue and share prices dropped from $4.91 to $4.76 now (low was ~$4.69)

After the market closed, Q3 results showed earnings dropped y-o-y by -9.5%. On a 9M basis, the drop was not very significant, 12.3ct, fm 12.5ct. Still, I'll hands off SATS till it's closer to Q4 results, unless prices are a lot more attractive…

UMS @ $0.58

Buy @ $0.58

With Q4 reporting drawing near (last year on 28-Feb but I'm not discounting the possibility of an earlier date as 28th is close to the last day of the 60-days reporting requirement for FY results), I have decided to raise my buying price…. 60ct is still my immediate target but I'm flexible, depending on alternatives.. as always.. 😀

Popular Hldgs @ $0.23

Sell @ $0.23

Decided to contra off as it's due for payment. With the usual low volume, for a while, someone was trying to create a false impression of rising prices cum demand by buying 1 lot @ $0.235 for +1ct, coupled with a Buy Q of 120 lots @ $0.23. I must have started a mini panic selling… 😀

FCL @ $1.41

Buy @ $1.41

Average down my previous buy. Jump-Q at 5pm matching. My 'Special Situation II' play is slowing becoming an awkward situation… hee.. 😀

ThaiBev @ $0.525

Sell @ $0.525

Contra off all, no more left. Within a couple of minutes, someone cleared aro' 2000 lots in Sell Q, including mine which was right at the back.. Closed @ $0.53 during matching. Buyer CP = CIMB, perhaps local traders doing a co-ordinated push.. 😀

RafflesMed @ $3.0246

Sell @ $3.02, $3.03

Contra off, no more left. Ooops… I failed my test and was unable to resist the temptations to profit take. Especially motivated as I have used up almost all my free cash. Today, the STI finally did a more respectable rebound. Some other target stocks continue to stay at the same price and this makes it attractive for me to do a switching… 😀

ITG @ $0.138

Accept Offer @ $0.138

This is one of my longest held stock… since '00. No, it's not a Long Term Value stock but rather, it'd dropped till I won't even be able to pay the min. $25 comms if I were to sell it!

It must have been the tail end of  the dot.com boom (ITG = Internet Technologies Group) when I was offered Placement Shares from my remisier.. but was only alloted 1 lot @ $0.65. I placed my faith in Mr Koh Boon Hwee, who was working for the Wuthelum Group (Goh Cheng Liang family – more well known to most is one of their asset,  'Liang Court').

What happend next was the bursting of the dot.com boom… Prices plunged… There was even a 5-to-1 consolidation subsequently… Yes, the 65ct one lot became 200 shares.. So, double whammy, troublesome to sell odd lots plus below $25 min. comms.

Lessons Learnt

  •  Invest only in what you know ie. within own core competence. Don't ride on big names like Mr Koh or the Goh family. They will definitely have their own interest as priority ie. Make $$ for themselves. When there're high risks, that's when they're willing to share with us. So, for eg., today, ITG has morphed into a Property biz with assets in China. From what I'd read in the forum, the worst is over (for this morphing process) and now, this delisting offer (the Gohs are going to enjoy the fruits by themselves ; Mr Koh has left long ago… yup, he knows how to take care of himself..).
  • When the remisier offers Placement Shares, that ought to be a warning sign that it's not feasible for even stagging.. ie. not a hot IPO… 😀

There were a few Div / Capital Payout along the way but the losses was still huge.. Fortunately, not a lot of $$ was invested…

ThaiBev @ $0.521

Buy @ $0.525, $0.52 & $0.515

A new addition to my current protfolio. Treat it as a cheaper proxy to F&N and FCL… 😀

FCT @ $1.665

Buy @ $1.665

Average down my previous ones. REITs continues to be hit by US Tapering action. No worries, even tho' the Yield = 6.6% is lower than the REIT average of 7%, it's good enough for me.. for now… and likely looong term… Still, this buy is more for a short term target.. 😀
